The European Technology Transfer Manager Project- ETM, running form January 2013 to June 2015, has a consortium composed by 8 partners: ASEV- Agenzia per lo Sviluppo Empolese Valdelsa (Italy-Coordinator), FCI - Fundació Cecot Innovació (Spain), AS - Arges County Businessmen Association (Romania), SPI - Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (Portugal), ITPIO - Institute for training of personnel in international organisations (Bulgaria), ULO- Uniwersytet Łódzki (Poland), IDEC - Aintek A.E. (Greece), OCC - Oviedo Chamber of Commerce (Spain).
The EU is the world’s largest producer of scientific output but is much less effective than US or China and India in exploiting it through e.g. patents, licenses and spin-offs. The Technology Transfer Manager(TTM) helps interested parties to turn a research result or prototype into a commercial product. He/she researches, identifies, assesses possibilities of transfer, starting from existing known research results or from a need from a firm, and then helps the interested parties to liaise and to reach an agreement. This emerging occupation is crucial to secure that public and private money spent on research doesn’t go wasted and firms stay competitive.
The project wants to promote the use of the ECVET system by applying it to the occupation of the Technology Transfer Manager TTM.
To reach this goal, the project will produce several materials.
Thanks to a thorough valorization plan, 30.000 members of target groups will be informed about the project and about 700 will be directly involved in it.
The ETM project supports the development of the European qualification of "European Technology Transfer Manager(TTM)" testing and implementing ECVET system, which is used for the assessment, transfer, validation and the accumulation of learning outcomes achieved in formal, informal and non formal contexts related to the TTM qualification.
As a byproduct, the project will bring advantage not only to the world of VET, but also to European firms and to the European research sector, and reduce the current skills mismatch for this occupation.
The Guidelines will result from the experience of the pilots.
The project produces benchmarks for the profile of the TTM, for training TTMs and for accrediting their competence and VET providers. Thanks to the project, the ECVET system and the occupation of TTM will become better known, more effective and widespread.
