Marketing Text STONEPLACING a pour objectif de créer davantage d'emplois dans l'industrie de la pierre. Le projet met l'accent sur une installation de qualité de la pierre dans les bâtiments et autres environnements urbains.
The project looks to improve the placement of different stone material; focusing on the quality of installation and the quality of trained workers. These two issues are addressed by the consortium. The project would bring together the main European countries involved in the stone market, in addition to the key stone materials, granite, limestone and marble.
With the knowledge and experience of partners in the consortium related to stone, the project aims to advance stone placement methods through modern IT technology and focus on sustainability. Dissemination and exploitation of the project will be done mainly through the internet and using the network of some of the partners in the consortium, particularly Euroroc, The European & International Federation of Natural Stone Industries. The project aims to rectify the construction sector’s suggested lack of knowledge of stone placement. It will also strengthen European links, permitting jobs to those specialised in this particular field, and raising awareness of the importance of long-life materials.
Partners of the project:
Contractor: Deutscher Naturwerkstein-Verband – DNV (DE)
Management coordinator : Asesoramiento, Tecnología e Investigación, S.L (ES),
Centro Tecnológico del Mármol (ES)
European Association of Natural Stone - EUROROC (DE)
Association Ouvrière des Compagnons du Devoir du Tour de France (FR)

As a project focused on the placement of stone, the partners in the project are related to the stone industry, as well as training institutions in different levels.
The project therefore brings together some of the countries most important to the stone industry, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Croatia and their respective specialties, granite, limestone, sandstone and marble. The stone industry within these countries already put an emphasis on correct and appropriate methods for stone installation to extend the life cycle of processed stone. The project also aims to keep to EU environment laws, in regards to the reduction in volume of generated waste.
The project attempts to meet the needs of the stone industry in Europe and disseminate the results across all national and regional associations, reaching engineers, public organisms, and legislators showing the innovations and sustainability possibilities in the constructive use of the stone.
In regards to budget and cost efficiency, most funding would be spent on staff costs, production of the stone placing education material and promotion and dissemination, mainly through the internet and using the network of the partners in the project. The results of this project will include a curriculum for a stonemasonry placing course, training material for proper implementation of the course and, finally, multimedia flash cards for supporting the workers when placing stone on site.
Results will be presented in a seminar in Germany, where sustainable placing methods are discussed and in an international seminar in Spain, where results will be presented in front of attendants and experts from stone and construction will be invited. Further dissemination of the project could be found in professional fairs, conferences, seminars, etc.
