The course presents some tutorials related to the design of a forging process via computer simulation. Use is made of real forging problems and users are provided with sufficient information to carry out their own forging simulations and explore different strategies. Their different processes and difficulties will be discussed and a process methodology for the same component will be presented.
The course is aimed at helping attendees in general forging design simulation and the strategy of obtaining the best process design. It will not focus on any software in particular and will not help with the use of any software.
The didactic material consists in tutorials to solve the study cases presented in R5. When resolving the study cases the users must face different forging issues and they must choose the way to solve the problem using numerical simulation.
Using the training methodology Problem Based Learning (PBL), the didactic contents are presented as theoretical explanations for the resolution of the study cases, following the logics of the process. They are produced
making the flexible consultation easy, in accordance with the different interests and circumstances of the target groups.

The parts chosen for each tutorial are studied considering various alternative forging processes, analyzing the possibilities of each track using finite element simulation. There will be different trees or branches according to the similarity between the studied alternatives.
The advance level is given by the knowledge and skills needed to set up the simulations and to interpret the results for this cases.
The forging issues faced in the intermediate level are:
Micro-structure, die wear and mesh accuracy.
The courses not only are available in pdf and ppt format but also it is possible to follow them via elearning. ExeLearning has been used to built the tutorials to its use by self study methodology.
These tutorials are available in 5 languages, including Basque.
