The project "Multidimensional Training" includes trainees in 6 partner countries and 8 partner schools. The main aim is to build a small network all over Europe, especially in the Eastern part and with the new member countries. Also institutions will be included that had not participated in the project so far. The central task is to improve the quality of vocational training, on the side of the teachers as well as on the side of the trainees, using new methods that focus on the learner and on "learning by doing". Apart from vocational and language skills, knowledge about social education should be conveyed, especially in a setting of different cultures.
The companies are especially interested in fostering the qualifications of their prospective employees. The reason for the project is due to the geographical and regional status. Being situated close to the Czech Republic youngsters have to be prepared for the enlargement of the EU in the East. Teaching them frankness and tolerance is essential for a smooth acceptance of the new members in the EU. As the labour market in the area is very volatile, the ability to study continuously is necessary for a good performance.
We have chosen the partner schools in order to complete our schedules
(for example in Prague: traditional techniques in arts, in Ireland: Montessori-paedagogics, in the Netherlands: new teaching methods like student handbooks). Continuous assessment of the progress helps to reach the aims. At our school a certain "Leonardo spirit" has developed. The local press has accompanied the whole project with good coverage of events.
