Title Project management as an instrument with reference to workenvironment for development and assurance of education quality in the vocational education
Project Number DE/12/LLP-LdV/TOI/147520
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text In the operational context, innovative problem solving is increasingly developed in projects, where the realization is secured by project management (PM). So far, this development has been given only little attention in vocational education. There are no systematic approaches for teaching project management skills in the vocational education. The aim of the project PIA was to disseminate a concept developed by the Universität Bremen and the German Project Management association (GPM) and to transfer it to the partner countries (ES, FR, IT, PT) in different domains and educational programs. In addition, the competencies and experiences of the partners helped to expand the concept in adding the dimension of entrepreneurship.
Summary „All innovations are projects, but not all projects are innovations“ (Hauschildt). In projects, innovative solutions are developed. The realisation can be assured by Project Management (planning, organising and controlling the project work). Without Project Management (PM), innovations often fail. The importance of PM is therefore increasing at the workplace. In vocational education PM is rarely taught even though first initiatives exists: Since 2005 teaching concepts for vocational education have been developed and implemented in Bremen in coorperation with the GPM (German PM Association); a core curriculum, a training concept for teachers and teaching materials have been developed and already more than 200 teachers have been qualified. Learning takes place in our concept at two levels: On the one hand, Project Management is a content (to be learned) and on the other hand, it is a form, a design, to assure the quality of project teaching and learning. The labor market in this regard is set up twice: The students work on real project orders and therewith get qualified for project work in their future.
Description The goal of the PIA2-project was mainly to spread this concept in DE horizontally (in different domains) and vertically (vocational orientation, vocational education and further training) with adaptions during the implementation process in the partnercountries. The project PIA2 was devided in 4 main phases: (Testrun 1)Adaption and optimization of the core curriculum, (Testrun 2) Adaption and optimization of didactic framework, (3)Adaption and optimization of teaching materials (4)Valorization (during the whole project).
