Description This report presents the findings from a survey of Croatian SMEs, as to their current work with universities, and what they need to help take their ideas to market.
Target group Cross-sector SMEs across Croatia
Result There is a need for education in IPR rights and transfer of innovation. There are differences across industrial sectors of SMEs regarding the educational requirements and the state of the sectors' innovative activities. Additional statistical analysis using the method of inferential statistics was used to analyse the results for the article in the conference in Cardiff (ISBE in 2013). 205 SMEs from all industry sectors in Croatia are included in the study. The findings report that the higher innovative activities relate to the higher impact on SMEs exporting activities than on total domestic sales. Hence, innovative activities and educational support in IPRs are important for internationalising SMEs with lack of financial resources to manage IPR and informal methods of idea protection on their own.
