RPL project pilot was successfully carried out at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow from 20-22 March 2013. The URPL project team prepared RPL solutions and procedures and organized the RPL pilot.
During the project pilot four employees from two Polish organizations (the office of public administration and a non-governmental organization) were assessed as RPL candidates. Project pilot final phase took part on 21st March 2013 in Kraków and it was preceded by the RPL training seminar conducted by Jamie Brogan, expert from Edinburgh Napier University on 20th March. The training covered methods for RPL assessment and key elements for ensuring the success of RPL.
The overall RPL pilot process consisted of the following phases:
RPL pilot preparatory phase: selection of candidates for RPL assessment
Contact with RPL Adviser: selected participants received written information about RPL including the “Guidelines for RPL Candidates” and met with the RPL advisor. RPL adviser presented the RPL Application form, explained assessment methods and instructed the candidates on how to prepare their RPL portfolios for assessment.
RPL Assessment: for the purpose of the pilot two methods of assessment were chosen – portfolio and oral exam. Portfolios of candidates were assessed by selected RPL Assessors, who used Assessment form to assess candidates’ learning outcomes. After the portfolio assessment oral exams took place, which lasted half an hour each. Results of oral exam were added by RPL Assessors to the Assessment form.
