Title VET Credit Conversion System
Project Number 191176-LLP-2010MT-LEONARDO-ECVET
Project Type Other EU-Projects
Individual Participation Not possible
Country EU-Centralised Projects
Marketing Text This European project targets specifically the Vocational Education and Training Institutions (VET Providers) and essentially students and trachers and trainers in VET; aiming to create qualifications which are transparent, comparable, and transferable from one sector or country to another. The other direct/indirect stakeholders include the industry, parents, trade unions, employers' associations, compulsory schools, guidance teachers, and the general public. Eight partners are involved in this project, namely the Malta Qualifications Council and four public and private Maltese VET providers, as well as three other organizations namely from Italy (UNIFI), Romania (CNDIPT), and Slovenia (CPI).
The main outputs of the project will include: a total of 30 VET qualifications/courses converted into ECVET stemming from a piloting exercise of the ECVET conversion system; a National template for qualifications description to ultimately be used also as the template for level rating of courses; and a manual for VET institutions which is
intended to be used at a national level. This manual should explain step by step how
to fill in the national template for describing qualifications, in a way which features all
the ECVET necessary conditions. Thus, in terms of impact, this project will have a
multiplier effect. Not only will it ensure the conversion of the 30 qualifications/courses involved in the project, but the main output will include the development of a manual to be used at a national level for the conversion methodology (ECVET Conversion Manual); which can then be used for the conversion of other courses by other VET training institutions, nationally as well as at European level. The areas of study tackled for this project through the thirty selected courses include Agribusiness, Art and Design, Mechanical Engineering, Tourism, Community Services, Business and Commerce, and ICT and Computing. All qualifications vary from levels 1 to 5 of the Malta Qualifications Framework.
