Title 1. Auto-MOBIL in Europe. Vocational practice and intercultural experiences stimulate communication and understanding
Project Number DE/11/LLP-LdV/IVT/283526
Project Type Mobilité - formation professionnelle initiale IVT
Individual Participation Impossible
Our project was addressed to young people passing vocational training in our training centre.
As the participants had little experience abroad we limited the time frame to three weeks. Several meetings took place in preparation, among other things on the following topics: fears, wishes, information on the EU program and project, intercultural workshop, gathering of information on the partner city and partner institution.
The stay was divided into an arrival phase and an education and training phase. In the first phase the apprentices got to know the facilities and the partner city. Furthermore there were profession specific trainings and a language course. In the second phase both professional instruction in the apprentice garage and practical training took place.
Important for us was an evaluation by an external coach about six weeks after the end of the project. The experiences and impressions were reconsidered and evaluated with respects to the participants’ personality.
In the project participated a training centre of the International Bund in Erfurt/Germany, a vocational school in Pécs / Hungary as well as small and medium-sized companies in the host (receiving) country Hungary.
In the last years the IB arranged for different projects with the partner school. Until then the IB Thuringia has participated in activities of the Mobility Program only as host (receiving) institution for the partner. The IB Thuringia applied for this program because it wanted to send young people itself abroad for the first time. The apprentices taking part in this mobility are underprivileged young people and pass an external vocational training.
Because of the parallels of the partner institutions in the vocational fields as well as on contacts to companies in the car branch the demands of the vocational training can be met. Professional knowledge and skills are consolidated and expanded.
Another objective is the improvement of important skills for the completion of vocational training as well as for better chances in the labour market.
Social and personal competences like self-confidence and endurance are improved. Important social skills like tolerance and the ability to compromise are stimulated as well as methodic competence.
Moreover the young participants didn´t have much experiences abroad and they could build up in this way intercultural competences and learn to deal with intercultural situations.
