Project Number 2010-1-TR1-LEO05-16980
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text SafeSME objectives provide eLearning content in occupational health and safety (OHS) with the goal of training workers, engineers and technicians, enterprise managers, and consultants in OHS aspects
The SafeSME project is targeting to generate a new approach on Occupational Health and Security (OHS) to provide the growing SME community using modern automated systems with the required legislation/safety practices know how regarding planning, implementation and operation of these technologies. A challenging goal of SafeSME is to facilitate the proper implementation of the national and EU regulations, and to support SMEs in the implementation of the legislation in force.
To achieve this goal and to overcome the information lack at SMEs, SafeSME is aiming at application of a combination of innovative eLearning based training with co-operative groups among SMEs and transnational virtual study circles based on web based experience share platform. By this means SafeSME will reach the SME community needs, by combing eLearning technologies with social aspects of face-to-face-communication, with the possibility of time and location independent learning. To realise this ambitious goal due to transfer and adaptation of existing innovative results from previous projects, SafeSME has set up a partnership providing required expertise and knowledge on eLearning technologies, legislation/safety practices regarding automated systems and organisation/execution of vocational trainings.
Description Key aim of SafeSME is to improve the quality and attractiveness of the European vocational education and training (VET) system by adapting and integrating innovative content or results from previous LdV projects into public and /or private vocational training systems and companies at the national, local, regional, or sectoral level. Therefore, to cope with the challenges described above (see D3.1), SafeSME is aiming at a support of SMEs to introduce measures to encourage improvement in OSH of workers at work, focusing on whole life-cycle of planning, implementation and operation of automated systems w.r.t. the needs of SME sector.

To achieve this holistic goal, enabling a successful dissemination of existing legislation/safety practices to SMEs, as e.g. the practical implementation of framework Directive 89/391/EEC , SafeSME is targeting at application of an advanced blended learning approach. Technically seen SafeSME is aiming to implement a WEB Platform about Safety sandards in automation based on the results of LdV Project ASMAS. By combination of innovative technologies with social aspects of face-to-face-communication, SafeSME will meet key SME needs, taking into account their limited resources available as well as time constraints caused by high daily work load and resulting limited flexibility to participate in vocational trainings.
