Les pays européens souhaitent revitaliser l’économie en investissant massivement dans les technologies vertes, pour réduire les émissions de 30 % en 2020 et les ramener à leur niveau de 1990.
La concordance avec les besoins du marché de l'emploi a été analysée par les partenaires, les profils et les recommandations de formation publiés, ont été évalués par les principaux acteurs du domaine professionnel, ceci était essentiel pour favoriser l'acquisition efficace des principales compétences, ce qui est une des priorités pour l'apprentissage tout au long de la vie.
Définition de 5 profils de rôles professionnels dans le domaine de l'informatique durable sont adaptés aux PME, basés sur les besoins actuels des entreprises, en relation avec les nouvelles technologies/internet/technologies mobiles, centrées sur les utilisateurs, ayant l'innovation comme moteur de l'économie et de l'emploi, cartographiant les savoirs, savoir-faire et compétences en relation avec e-CF et CEC/EQF.
The GRIN-CH Project developed Sustainable ICT job profiles, identifying knowledge, skills and competence needs in order to support transparency and increase the availability of professionals at European level. These were mapped with established frameworks such as EQF and eCF and contributed to reach the policy goals of the EU. The job profiles are accompanied by training guidelines, specially designed and supported for VET institutions in order to establish appropriate measures that can fulfill the needs of the IT sector with a sustainable approach. The results of the GRIN-CH project, are a common reference material to adapt in each country the necessary trainings for Sustainable ICT jobs.
The GRIN-CH project allowed a proposal for a better learning and mobility across Europe, and improved the quality and efficiency of education and training. Furthermore, it facilitated professional insertion and employability for people which will fulfill market needs in a field where lack of well trained professionals is obvious.
Note: as the “Green IT” subject has become increasingly important within EU policies, it has been replaced by the term "Sustainable ICT", therefore this term has been used for the final outcomes of the project.
GRIN-CH was a project of a consortium of 7 European partner organizations from 7 different countries. The project partners were from Switzerland, Germany, France, UK, Italy, Sweden and Belgium.
The GRIN-CH Project addressed the shortage of skilled professionals in the Sustainable ICT field, a shortage that is due to its recent emergence. It analysed the market needs, the existing trainings available for the different components and competences, and defined a professional standard in the participating European countries. To make qualifications and profiles more transparent, it referred the identified skills and competences to the - EQF and e-Competences Framework- e-CF.
This approach lead to a better transparency and recognition of learning outcomes and qualifications through a transparent and adapted to market needs professional model. As a consequence, employment of professionals and their mobility across Europe has been reinforced. Training organisations were advised on the content and skills that should be trained in the field of Sustainable ICT.
Coherency between market needs analysed by the partnership, for a reference training profile model that was furthermore evaluated by key stakeholders was the right key to ensure and to promote efficient acquisition of key competencies in VET, as requested by the LLP priority.
The expected impact of the GRIN-CH project, considering the different target groups was:
- Improved training offers for Sustainable ICT jobs adapted to European market needs
- Reduced mismatch between trained competencies and competencies needed on the labour market
- Increased attractiveness of qualifications in Sustainable ICT
- More students, since modular training approach (with ECVET) makes further vocational training and lifelong learning in general more attractive to professionals on the labour market.

The Main innovative elements and outcomes foreseen by the development of GRIN-CH project were:
1. Definition of a set of 5 European qualification profiles for jobs in the field of Sustainable ICT that are 1. Evolving in SMEs; 2. Based on current job market needs; 3. Dealing with Internet/ mobile new technologies; 4. Focusing on ICT users; and 5. Focusing of innovation as a driver of economy and employment mapping knowledge, competences and skills aligned to the eCF/EQF.
2. Guidelines for training institutions complying to the principles of the ECVET so that they can set up training offers in the field of Sustainable ICT professions accordingly.
