Title Migrapass- Un portfolio et un accompagnement pour les migrants
Project Number 2010-1-FR1-LEO05-14483
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text Enhancing professional integration of migrants.
Summary The Migrapass project proposes a tool and a method, a portfolio and a collaborative training, to help migrants understand and promote the value of their backgrounds and to help them promote themselves on the labour market and evoluting in their professional careers. It is based on the identification of the knowledge and competences gained through the different experiences.ome of the possible types of experience include professional work, social experience (for example through active citizenship activities), experience related to migration and other experience related to one's family or personal background.Valuting their competences is a key issue to enhance their professional and social integration.
The main objectives of the Migrapass project are to provide migrants with a portfolio and collaborative training in order to help them understand and promote the value of their unique skills and experiences. This, in turn, will increase their chances of finding suitable employment on the labour market.
Many of the same skills required of workers on the labour market are skills that are gained or stregthened by a migratory past. Mobility and the capacity to adapt, for example, are key assets in a professional career.
The training follows a collaborative approach that corresponds to the special needs of migrants. The main goal of the training is to help migrants fight against loneliness and exclusion linked to their status as foreigners, inducing self-discrimination (some migrants deny themselves professional opportunities). The Migrapass project is answering the European priority "Developing professional abilities according to the needs of the labour market - New competences for new employment."

The portfolio allows migrants to identify and promote:
- the professional experience acquired in their native country (often ignored in host countries),
- the skills aquired through non formal and informal learning,(such as volunteering in shelters hosting other migrants)
- the value of migrants' unique competences that are directly linked to their experience of expatriation (leaving their native country, living and working in a foreign country, coping with a different environment, etc)
The guide for the mentors allows mentors to help migrants to follow the Migrapass process.
