Title Main-Cert: Development and testing of an European Certificate for Management- and specialist competences im Bereich Instandhaltung
Project Number DE/11/LLP-LdV/TOI/147451
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Nine European partners have developed and tested a “European certificate for management and specialist competencies in the field of maintenance”.
The CEMES - competence evaluation method, which was awarded the Helsinki Award 2006 in the category Transparency and Recognition of Competencies, was adapted to the field of maintenance.
The management of maintenance processes requires complex and interdisciplinary competencies. These competences are acquired at work through the experience in the job. In particular management, project development and the applications of standards and technical norms and processes in maintenance are generally acquired during the work experience.
Leader experience especially, but also the necessary knowledge of standards and procedures in maintenance is often gained when management responsibilities are taken over.
However, there is still no official proof for this knowledge and skills.
This gap is now filled with our certification.
The integration of the European economy and growing cross-border acting enterprises demand European instruments in Human Resources Development and Competence Development.
Management and Specialist Certificates for managers were developed by the pilot project ESO-CSA. The procedure of the proof of qualification, essential for the certification, is the 3-stage CEMES - competence evaluation method, which was awarded by Helsinki Award 2006 in the category transparency and recognition of competencies. According to this method an online-based and outcome-oriented competence evaluation platform was developed by the project ESO-CRS.
The CEMES- method and CEMES- competence evaluation platform shall be adapted and transferred for LdV project of transfer in the field of maintenance.
The management of maintenance processes requires complex and interdisciplinary competencies.
A branch-oriented Certificate can fulfil important functions to keep professionals
In the project of transfer MAIN-CERT shall be developed a specialised certification in the field of maintenance for managers.
The developed specialist certifications of the pilot project ESO-CSA have to be adapted. The certification for maintenance will contain competence areas (CSA- Certified Specialist Areas) according to the project results of ESO-CSA and be complemented by typical maintenance competencies.
There is a first CSA- structure of the new certificate for managers in the field of maintenance:
CSA Processes (Management of processes and projects)
CSA Human Resources (HR Management, methodological competence and self-competence)
CSA Facility Management
CSA Safety, health protection and environmental protection
The project has to develop practice-oriented competence profiles and descriptions in collaboration with the target group. Assessment and test scenarios have to be developed and integrated into the CEMES - competence evaluation platform.
An extensive test phase will guaranty that the results fit to the needs of managers and economic system what gained acceptance by the target group and increased impact on the sustainability.
The CEMES- platform used for the certification will be improved in this project and adapted to the conditions for the new area.
