One of the most important factors in competitiveness is the ability to introduce new ideas/ technology to the production process. The driving force in this process is always individuals with unique knowledge and motivation. Most organizations have a conservative and reluctant view on new projects. There is a strong need to improve and facilitate this process and give different kind of support to individuals who are pushing for new projects in industrial organizations. In the academia focus is on theoretical knowledge building and there is a need to have the industrialization view when courses are developed and given. The industrialization of scientific research results is a key factor to ensure future strength, growth and competitiveness for companies in EU.
The Experience Transfer Model (ETM) project (completed 14th of December 2012) addresses the process of introducing new technology and research results into the industrial sector converting them into new products and processes.

The Experience Transfer Model, ETM, project (completed 14th of December 2012) addresses the process of introducing new technology and research results into the industrial sector converting them into new products and processes. An important issue for this process is how individuals can be trained to be more active and successful.
The method developed and refined during the ETM project combine the use of experience from introduction of technology in industrial enterprises, research results and the systematic approach to problem analysis and problem solving from the academic community. Close cooperation between the network of industrial enterprises and the academic community has been achieved by using different ICT tools. The developed project methods and tools give access to knowledge, important for both the industrialization process and the educational programs. This has encouraged the two way communication, Industry and Universities. The ETM platform for exchange of experience handle input from different areas and make them relevant to the problem focused on. The tools have been used for problem analysis, solving and information management. The developed concept creates a very efficient process of experience transfer/exchange considering both the time and the quality aspect. An important factor in the ETM methods and tools is information handling to ensure that the company’s natural requirement for confidentiality can be satisfied. By the extensive use of ICT tools the transfer of experience can be done regardless of geographic location.
The ETM partners have built a network for future cooperation and expansion. The impact will be a more effective transfer of new technology into commercial products and processes and an education more linked to industrial needs. The ETM project will yield both more competent and motivated individuals in industry and education.
Description The aim of the Experience Transfer Model (ETM) project (completed 14th of December 2012) has been to develop a platform for exchange of experience among engineers active in industry. The platform has been designed so engineers from different areas and disciplines can contribute essentially to the problem-solving and proposal for strategies. Manuals have been developed for the different steps in the exchange process. An organization model has been developed for the creation of groups of companies participating in ETM. In the long run this concept will meet the labour market needs, (new skills for new jobs) since it promotes the development of vocational skills. The developed ETM platform concept offer persons with different cultural background and gender excellent possibilities to contribute.
