Title Your ECVET
Project Number 2011-1-NL1-LEO05-05210
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Today many European students have the chance to experience a learning period in another country. However, validation and recognition of work-related skills and knowledge acquired during their stay abroad is not easy. The Your ECVET project shows how students in various fields of VET can profit from the ECVET instrument and how your institute can use ECVET in practice.
The Your ECVET project was carried out by a consortium of 15 partners from 6 different countries. Most partners are important regional VET-providers. Among the partners are the Slovenian national VET institute and a regional organisation for VET in Germany. All Dutch project partners are member of The Dutch Alliance.
The project resulted in six recommendations on how to use and implement ECVET in practice; a toolkit with country-specific templates of the ECVET key documents; guidelines, do’s and don’ts and explanatory notes and a description of learning units in different sectors of VET.
Over the years, the partners in this Your ECVET project have managed to build a solid network for international placements of their students. Concerning the management of international mobility, many improvements were made and a high level of performance has been reached. At one point however, the partnership stayed behind, which is the validation of learning outcomes acquired during international placements.
Through the outcomes of the Your ECVET project, the recognition of learning outcomes acquired abroad will be easier. This means that the value of international mobility can be credited. The project partners have experimented with ECVET essentials such as memorandum of understanding, learning agreement, descriptions of learning units and the assessment form.
The Your ECVET project defined 5 work packages
1. project management
5. quality assurance
Starting-point of the Your ECVET project were the outcomes of previous FIN-ECVET projects. Their models and documents were assessed and in addition, outcomes of other successful ECVET projects were consulted.
The development group of the Your ECVET project then prepared templates to be used in the testing phase. Therefore, examples from the FIN-ECVET projects were made suitable for the requirements in the partners’ countries. During actual work placements abroad of our VET students these templates were tested.
Based on feedback from the testing group, the final version of the templates per country was agreed. These include practical advice, guidelines and explanatory notes. The lessons learnt in the Your ECVET project were compiled in the Your ECVET recommendations.
Recognition, transparency, certification
The Your ECVET project has delivered the following results
1. The Your ECVET recommendations
2. The Your ECVET toolkit
The Your ECVET toolkit contains templates per country of the four ECVET key documents for international mobility: the Memorandum of Understanding, the Learning Agreement, the Learning Units and the Assessment Form.
A description of the process that we followed in the project, lessons learnt, do’s and don’ts and guidelines for use, are included in these recommendations and in the explanatory notes that are part of the templates.
