PRO::ICT Roundtable attor information & communication technologies and new media in Europe show a low degree of women. Although many branches of this sector have a clear need for more qualified personnel, women fall short of being able to take advantage of these job opportunities.
PROMICT will support female students from upper secondary schools, educational professionals, vocational guidance counsellors from public employment services as well as companies in key information and decision processes so that an increased proportion of females choosing a tertiary education as well as career path in the sector information & communication technologies and new media can be achieved.
In particular, PROMICT will develop a set of modules that provide guidance and instructions for concrete actions directed towards

regarding educational and job
* optimising the match between
female students from upper
secondary schools and
universities of applied sciences
expectations and skills
* providing knowledge and clear
perspectives regarding vocational
opportunities in the sector

The modules developed, produced and disseminated by PROMICT will be targeted primarily at the following target groups
* Female students from upper
secondary schools, in
particular academic schools,
age group 15-19 years;
* Teachers from upper secondary
* Educational professionals of
universities of applied
sciences responsible for
developing curricula and
* Vocational guidance counsellors
from public employment services;
* Human resources officers from
the ICT/new media sector;
Furthermore the results of PROMICT will also we relevant for:
* Ministries of Education,
* Teacher and university
* Business and professional
associations in the ICT and new
* Institutions and organisations
for further education.
Project duration and phases
PROMICT is conceived as a two-years project which will be carried out in three phases:
Phase 1: Study & Module Development
Duration: 10 months
a) Study: Desk research/gathering of expert knowledge about key issues, target groups, effectiveness of different approaches to attract women to technical career paths;
b) Module development: Overall concept, methodology, content and structure of modules/action guides and instructions.
Phase 2: Testing of Modules & Evaluation Duration: 6 months Workpackages:
a) Test of modules in two focus groups (FG) by partners in four European countries; one FG with female students, teachers and representatives from universities of applied sciences; one FG with vocational guidance counsellors and human resources officers from the ICT/new media sector; reports on applicability of modules.
b) Evaluation of testing phase on the basis of the reported results, assessment report, working list for optimisation of modules.
Phase 3: Development of Products & Dissemination
Duration: 8 months
a) Development of products:
- Development of modules into customised products (i.e. as highly interactive pdf files or other formats);
- translation of products (beside English [project working language], German and French versions are suggested),
- set-up of information and dissemination platform,
- production of information folder in English [versions in German and French are suggested].
b. Dissemination of products by main dissemination partner and other project partner
Project team and roles of partners
The project team of PROMICT will consist of eight partners (four from Austria and four from other European member states), lead by Salzburg Research Forschungsgesellschaft mbH as project co-ordinator.
