Title NTNC-NEW TEACHERS FOR NEW COMPETENCES: Tools to help the Teachers to develop, mobilize and valorize the Transversal Competences in their Learners requested by the Companies acquired through Informal Learning
Project Number 2011-1-ES1-LEO05-36437
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text NTNC aimed at qualifying teachers and trainers to be not only knowledge transmitters but also mediators of knowledge between the educational and the labour worlds. For this purpose, NTNC offers them pedagogical tools necessary to train their learners in non-formal and informal competences. These competences are being requested by companies though are not part of syllabuses up to now.
It is necessary to get a correspondence between the qualifications offered by VET systems and the real needs of companies (Agenda New Qualifications and Employments, 2010).
VET Systems have been focused on training in technical aspects. Companies, on their part, are requesting also some non-formal and informal competences they consider necessary in their productive contexts.
Therefore the role of teachers and trainers must change. They should act as a bridge between the educational and the labour environments, allowing permanent knowledge of both realities.
A high percentage of teachers/trainers doesn´t have any experience in companies so they don´t know the context where their students will develop their professional life.
Therefore, they need to updated their profiles to be able to further train their students in such competences.
Throughout its development, NTNC has:
-Raised awareness amongst VET professionals on the need to know the contexts and values of the companies where their students will make their professional development to further use them in their training activities.
-Favoured the creation of new teaching and learning scenarios and methodologies allowing teachers/trainers to develop key competences companies consider are necessary in their productive contexts.
-Provided the necessary tools for teachers/trainers to be able to develop, transfer and valorise in their students such key competences required by companies.
-Ensured learning mechanisms that will improve the rates of knowledge transference in the field.
