Project Number 518718-LLP-1-2011-1-GR-LEONARDO-LMP
THESEIS aims at developing, testing and disseminating an innovative training model in the field of occupational Health and Safety of workers in the pollution management sector of eco-industry.
The increasing demand for this material can be attributed to several factors: People working in eco-industry face specific risks related to their activities; most of the companies of the sector are SMEs; there are constantly new entrants; the individuals should have the competencies required to meet the H&S challenges arising from the quick technological changes.
In contrary to the abovementioned necessity there is nothing specifically oriented to this sector which includes more than 2.5 million persons occupied in the EU-25.
THESEIS seeks i) to determine the competences, skills, knowledge and attitudes that the particular workforce needs to acquire and ii) to address these using innovative pedagogical approaches and practices based on collaboration instructional strategy and interactive on-line design tools.
The main project outputs and products will be: A transnational survey of the training needs; An assessment of the existing National Qualification Frameworks; The application of an extensively interactive collaborative approach to learning service design; The development of the associated learning tools based on VCP (Virtual Community Platform) technology; Various dissemination activities; The 5 years Exploitation Plan.
The spread and wide adaptation of the new innovative training model will generate several direct benefits both for companies and workers operating in the sector addressed (improve labour conditions, decrease risks and possibility of accidents).
In addition it will empower companies and individuals to engage in true lifelong learning, career planning and development, create a culture of pedagogical learning and encourage new entrants into the sector enhancing the mobility of individuals and the productivity of the European Eco-Industry Sector.
The proposed project aims at developing an appropriate e-learning training model in the field of occupational Health and Safety of individuals working in the pollution management sector of eco-industry.
The training model will be developed and implemented using a phased, extensively interactive collaborative approach incorporating early stakeholder involvement in the design of the learning outcomes and services, as well as utilizing graphic-oriented tools for the analysis and design stages. More specifically, the training model will use a web-based Virtual Community Platform which will provide powerful and rich-on line information, multilingual interaction and networking and collaborative information publishing services between users.
The foreseen instructional strategy is anticipated to create a learning culture on H&S aspects according to learner needs where collaborative learning with multiple perspectives and self-management will be promoted.
The learning outcomes will be designated according the specific training needs of workers occupied in eco industry sector, regarding Health and Safety (H&S) issues that will be identified via a research survey, which will be conducted in all participating countries. According recent studies, the training needs for acquisition of skills, competences in H&S issues have received the first or second highest ranking amongst all other training needs. In addition, a partner from each country will investigate the existence of the National Qualifications Frameworks for the workers in eco-industry sector and document the qualifications related to H&S issues. The collected information will be also used for the designation of learning outcomes, which, then, will be grouped in distinct learning units and be described along the descriptors knowledge, skills and competence, in accordance with ECVET and EQF. This will make the learning outcomes of the project transparent and comparable on a European scale.
