Marketing Text The first major task of this project was to conduct a pan-european study of soft skill training needs within social enterprises. Results from interviews & questionnaire responses are shared within this white paper. These finds are of interest to social entrepreneurs, social enterprise educators & trainers, & policy makers.
Description This white paper outlines the training needs analysis for the project. It comprised of establishing the soft skill development needs of social entrepreneurs at a pan-European level. Scoping interviews were carried out with 22 social enterprise stakeholders in Ireland, UK & Germany to establish the types of soft skills required for staff working within social enterprises. The findings of these interviews informed the design of a full online survey of skills needs which was completed by 134 social entrepreneur stakeholders from the 3 countries.
Target group This white paper & its findings is relevant to social entrepreneurs, social enterprise educators & trainers, & policy makers.
Result The findings of the study were very similar across the 3 countries, with the following soft skills identified as being particularly important to social enterprises - communication, effective leadership, decision making, strategic thinking, conflict resolution & judgement. These findings helped to inform the design of the actual scenario to be tested online with social enterprise stakeholder participants.
