The LifeDreams4All project was based on the lack of achievement & low participation of young people in VET and/or mobility programs from disadvantaged backgrounds (e.g. from deprived socioeconomic backgrounds, BMIs, refugees, job seekers & those with learning difficulties ) on an European level. Embrace's slogan is ....it's all about LifeDreams and we have specialised in holistic training programmes for young people (IVTs/PLMs) over the last 10 years.
The main aim was to transfer our basic modules & training material to Germany and Turkey.
All partners in this consortium have several years of experience in mobility programmes, with a main focus to foster the success and achievement of disadvantaged young people in their area through inclusion into the mainstream. All partners have been working with each other for many years in various projects including mobilities (IVT, PLM and VETPRO) & we have a trustful and effective working rapport with each other.
1. The project is an ideal starting point for contributing significantly to the overall participation in mobilities through inclusive & holistic placement schemes including disadvantaged youth (e.g. with supported learning needs/ learning difficulties/ ethnic minorities/ from socioeconomic deprived background & in rehabilitation such as addictions and ex-offenders)
2.New skills for professionals/trainers as our approach is totally inclusive by accommodating young people with the highest needs we automatically create a system which is supportive for all.
3.Confidence/motivation/achievement & mobility/practical work-specific skills for students (VET). The LifeDreams4All scheme worked for individual who wished to create a purposeful, exiting and independent life. A perfect time to do this is while they are young , in vocational training or further training. It connects both in the most practical way, the personal/ professional goals and a challenging platform to go for it: a placement abroad in order to gain life and job experience, enhance employability, mobility and motivation to achieve.
The project was based on an intensive train-the-trainer programme over 9 months in order to establish a high standard of delivery in Europe starting with our project partners in Germany and Turkey. The training was based on experiential learning, applied psychology, cultural awareness and other methods of personal development in order to deliver high standard, authentic and effective training for young people who are going on an international placement. The programme is suitable for all young people including the most disadvantaged ones in our society.
Results achieved so far:
* All three seminars have been successfully completed, the participants were very pleased with the new skills they have gained and we were able to garner feedback on how to improve our dissemination of the project.
* External evaluations of the project have shown positive results in regards to the implementation of the LifeDreams4All project by the participants on their students. The role of the evaluators was to see how the LifeDreams trained staff are applying the models and knowledge that they learnt and to engage in discussions with groups of young people about their experience of working with those staff and the difference those approaches are making, or have made, to their learning and their approach to the work done in those classes.
The participants of the LifeDreams4All project utilized the skills they gained during the project on some of their students. By implementing some of the LifeDreams4All processes they were able to procure the following statements:
“We are not passive listeners any more. We enjoy our classes now because we are encouraged to be active in the classroom.”
“Before, we used to learn and then forget. But now we don’t forget because we are now active learners.”
“I realized that I didn’t know myself before. But now it is different. I know what my strengths and weaknesses are. I am working on developing myself.”
“I am happy that I learnt how to work on my weaknesses.”
“At first I thought those activities are meaningless, things to kill time. However, later on, seeing the results, I acknowledged their need and usefulness.”
* The project was featured in local newspapers as well as university newsletters
*Our participants utilized the skills they gained on the LifeDreams4All project during an Erasmus party with involved Universities from multiple countires which helped to spread the Lifedreams message further.
