Project Number UK/11/LLP-LdV/TOI-415
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Country UK-United Kingdom
Marketing Text The BAREFOOT Trainer project developed and delivered a new 'Train the Trainer' course in 6 EU countries. BAREFOOT followed on from previous EU projects using their outputs, including the GOAL project - Generating Adult Online Learning. BAREFOOT created an accredited, innovative VET training course for diverse sectors - formal education, commercial training, voluntary and Third sector, community and small business sectors. It delivered a transferable VET skills set, so building capacity, employability and opportunities for all across the European Union.
Summary The BAREFOOT Trainer course was proposed and developed via Leonardo Transfer of Innovation (ToI) funding. It took training approaches, techniques and online materials - that were developed by previous projects including GOAL, Generating Online Adult Learning, and updated, repurposed and formulated these into a new short, practical blended learning course. It gave a new skills set useful for VET teaching or training across diverse sectors.
Description The partners completed desk research and TNA in each country with regards to VET training. A QCF UK accredited course was developed with the awarding body OCN NI. Materials from GOAL a previous EU project were reviewed, updated and developed to ‘transfer’ these to other EU countries and sectors. Some materials were already available. Further development resulted in training approaches, techniques and online materials available as a new, short, practical blended course, to give a new skills set that’s immediately useful for teaching or training across diverse VET sectors. This new training course was implemented by each partner for a small group of participants and feedback influenced the sustainability options for the training programme and project. The project results included a dissemination strategy, a project website with training materials available for use and social networks for the development of an online community, quality standards for software and hardware and updated GOAL training materials available on line, a database of open source software for a training suite, course accreditation a sustainability plan and a project final report.
