This unit is relevant to candidates who are employed in or involved in the Ship Dismantling industry and representing the employer at a managerial or supervisory level. Candidates who achieve this unit should have the ability to:
Describe reasons and identify benefits of carrying out Accident/Incident Reporting and Investigation
Demonstrate the core elements of accident/incident investigation (Gathering Information, Analysing Information, Identifying Suitable Risk Control Measures, Action Plan)
Demonstrate effective employee accident/incident reporting procedures
Identify and explain the purpose of key legislation and regulations relevant to Ship Dismantling Yards.
Outline and explain how to work in a proactive way to prevent accidents, diseases and incidents.
Demonstrate an effective Occupational Health and Safety Management System
Describe reasons and identify benefits of carrying out Risk Assessments
Outline the factors needed to plan a Risk Assessment
Identify potential hazards and describe hazardous situationsand materials
