Marketing Text The increasing demand in Europe of qualified professionals in the field of Ambient-Assisted Living, as a cause of the rapidly aging population requires paying attention and taking specific measures to fulfill the needs of the market in this sector. The ComAAL Consortium defined a compendium of European Role Profiles for Professions in the field of Ambient-Assisted Living in printable version, plus an XML-based machine-readable version of the profiles. The added-value of creating a machine readable ontology is that these files can be used by any software application in order to extract the information contained in the job profiles and thus can facilitate the process of developing training course descriptions for training institutions.
Description The XML-based descriptions of job profiles contains the Upper Level Ontology of core competences and draft versions of the Domain Ontologies of the specific job profiles that wwere be selected by the consortium. This greatly facilitates Europe-wide standardization of the AAL core competence descriptions and at the same time enables localization to adopt nation-specific particularities, without loss of compatibility among descriptions.
