Title EU Move 2
Project Number 2011-1-NL1-LEO05-05222
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
The EU move 2 project contributes to solutions in overcoming obstacles to mobility of students, individuals and workers.
There will be set up a network around an existing portal with services to facilitate and improve mobility in a quantitative and qualitative way. For students and workers this will result in higher employability and improvement of personal and professional skills. For training centres this means setting up more flexible, individual based learning pathways and collaboration with other training centres and companies at EU level.
The project EU Move 2 is a sequel to the earlier project EU Move. EU Move 2 aims the development and deployment of the practical side of the web portal. A network of partners from the countries will be set up. The partner in each country will deliver high quality training companies to ensure a high quality web portal. This is a direct positive impact on the quality and quantity of international work placement.
From experiences in the MOVE-IT study, the EU-Move project and the 'Meerwaard met IBPV'-study, we see that mobility of students and workers occur, but that there are still barriers to go abroad. These are to a large extend related to quality assurance of assessments, the quality of work placements and languages and intercultural aspects.
Mobility is important for Europe in terms of creating a more competitive and dynamic economy. Mobility can help an individual to move quickly from school into a practical situation. Mobility expands and enriches the training and experience of people, enhancing their personal development and their intercultural understanding through language skills and exposure to other cultures and learning environments.
Trainees are prepared for their future job, which is an advantage for both trainees (in finding a job) and for the companies (in having quality work force).
The EU-Move project (http://www.eumoveabroad.eu), did set up a platform where relevant tools and instruments to facilitate mobility are present. The platform tries to minimize the barriers to go abroad. A trainee, company, VET-provider or a mentor can consult the portal to find a workplace, a student, information or supporting tools. Next step is to set up a system that can ensure easily highly qualitative and certified companies on the platform. In the situation as it is now, each partner in the cooperating countries in the project, have to check by themselves to qualify whether a company is qualified. In practice it means that it is expensive and time-consuming. The proposal in this project is to develop a network of agents in the cooperating countries to guarantee the quality of the companies. Partner organizations act as first point of contact for work placement companies and take care of relationship management and quality assurance in the work placement companies. In this situation the cap of distance and the language barrier can be bridged. Besides, it is a more efficiently way of working.
* The project nature and heterogenity of the actors and of the competences involved require a significant effort as it regards the management and cooperation of the different project components in order to be able to effectively carry on the activities and get a result that is satisfying in every respects. From this standpoint, the work plan provides for different tools aimed at monitoring the activities and checking the fair execution of the work both as it regards compliance with deadlines and administrative aspects and also the quality of work done. This is the reason why two work packages is devoted to the management and organisation of the system: wp1 (projectmanagement) and wp7 (quality assurance) which deals with administrative, coordination and cooperation among partners, with resource allocation and establishment of the committees, with the organisation of meeting etc. and also deals with the monitoring of the activities.
* This project is divided in two phases:
1) In the first phase we focus on setting up a network of country agents (wp2), developing the workshops and manuals (wp2,wp3,wp4) and dealing with the technical part (wp5).
2) In the second phase we bring the marketing plan implemented. This phase is the operational phase where we aim to implement the outcomes of the marketing plan. The second phase is the so-called test phase with the aim to use experience from this test cases in this phase to strengthen the mobility portal. This is also the phase where we try to reconstruct the most ideal working environment in which the EU-Move system must function. Therefore we aim to involve all the potential users of the portal and test all components of the system (from trainee to country agent to mentor to company). The first half year of the second phase is the starting point to train the mentors (by the country agent) in guiding the trainee during the mobility period. Parallel to this training we already start the testcase to test the quality of the rest of the EU-Move system.
Each of the partners has specific responsibilities in the work packages as they are all 'owner' of one of the work packages. KCH will take care of the overall coordination.
