Title E-learning Exercise Genexis System
Project Number 2010-1-IT1-LEO05-01054
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text The aim of the project has been the transfer of an e-learning portal called Genexis. This portal has been conceived for the development of training courses (and the innovative system of generation, control and verification of exercises) for vocational schools. The combination of online courses with virtual communication tools allowed to perform completely virtual study course through internet. It has been possible for courses and schools to provide education through internet and attract student from different countries which are more than any local market could provide on its own. The main achievement of the project has been the improvement of Genexis system after a series of activities implemented during the 2 years of project life
Summary The use of ICT in education and training has been a priority in most European countries during the last decade. A small percentage of schools in some countries have embedded ICT into the curriculum, and demonstrate high levels of effective and appropriate ICT use to support and transform teaching and learning across a wide range of subject areas. Although it appears to be recognised the value of ICT in education, difficulties nevertheless continue to be experienced within the processes of adopting these technologies and only a minority has so far embedded ICT into teaching. In order to tackle these problems, the project has aimed to create a useful tool by providing an attractive, engaging and simple learning and teaching environment that reflects the modern internet-saturated life. Genexis is an online e-learning solution based on exercise generation; it makes teaching and learning more productive and less frustrating, benefiting everyone involved in the education and training process. The project has created a method for teachers on how to use GenExis together with existing ICT solutions and how to exchange with ICT based contents with other schools by using GenExis. With GenExis teachers/educators have been able to get an integrated solution, with the possibility to exchange contents, programs and functions within their own educational programs. Itallowed a dialogue among school (VET school), by giving and sharing their own experience and knowledge about the realization of educational curricula.The partnership has been composed by private and public institutions of technical and vocational training coming from Italy, Spain, Greece, Latvia, Sweden and Turkey. Each partner has helped to the development of E-content ICT based and the management of projects co-financed by European programs. The main project outcomes have been: method which has helped teachers to apply ICT in teaching process; integrated GenExis solution in partner schools; developed content exchange network between partner country professional schools;teachers trained to use integrated GenExis e-learning solution.The use of ICT have had a deep impact and implications in education, due to the implication to new skills for learning and teaching.
The main new objectives of the project have been: introduction of a management system of ITC content in partner countries school; creation of a network of VET school using the same e-learning portal and sharing the library content; providing the teachers with the technical skills for the system usage and creation of new contents (curricula, exercise, example) within educational and study programmes. Genexis system has satisfied some specific needs, nowadays not solved by the introduction of ITC in the European schools: possibility of interaction of schools through the exchange of educational contents (from a system to another); possibility to exchange new developed functions (from a system to another) that will updated automatically other systems. In this way, Genexis system has been a catalyst for innovation and social development and education. During the 2 years of ptoject, the activities put in place have helped to achieve the forseen results: in particular, the main phase has been the pilot/testing phase phase (run during the 2nd year of the project)where all partners have been able to show the Genexis potentiality and explained the advantages linked to the new form of learning and teaching. This phase has been facilitated by the previous activities which have supported the testing phase, such as the training on system usage and guidelins for Genexis usage tranlsated in all partners languages.
The project has been also disseminated in many important international exhibitions and conferences, as well as in local and national workshops and seminars: it has been resulted that the system could be very useful to develop new skills in learning and teaching and introduce ITC in school curricula.

Genexis system has been conceived for the development of training courses and the innovative system of generation, control and verification of exercises for vocation schools. The main products realsied during the project lifespan have been:
- National overview of educational system and common ICT used in vocational education in partners countries (comparison of the educational systems of the partner countries; collection of data on the use of new technologies in the educational systems and training / teaching in vocational schools, from interviews and field research);
- Genexis User Guidelinesfor teachers and students translated in partners languages (Italian, Greek, Spanish, Turkish and Swedish)
- Report overview of evaluation results in every country (collection of all the data from testing phase, and an overview of how the system has been used and appreciated by end users).
