"M-NET EOP" project will stimulated employment and integration at local level and will demonstrated its potential at national level. By introducing policies that promote the employment of people with disabilities and changing the attitudes of employers towards them, the project will help to relieve the community of a social burden.
During the project activities, disabled people will gain access to jobs in industrial companies. Giving disabled people a fair chance on the job market, will make them less dependent and boosts their confidence. Instead of marginalizing a large group of people and ignoring their potential, the project coordinators will increase level of integration of disabled people into society.
Disabled people suffer from discrimination on job market due to deeply rooted and widespread prejudices. Instead of focusing on professional qualities and skills of the disabled, potential employers tend to focus on their more obvious disabilities without even seriously considering their skills levels. To create more equal opportunities on the job market, project partners aimed at perfecting the vocational skills of graduating students with disabilities by offering them the opportunity to gain work experience. This will increase their chances on the job market as well as change employers' attitude towards disabled people as potential employees.
The project managers set out to find mentors for the disabled candidates. Each mentor was to be coupled with a disabled employee in a field chosen by the disabled person. Closely linked to the mentoring programme, the project also sought to establish an employer's network for disability. This network was to consist of companies with a positive attitude towards the employment of disabled people. The creation of this network would enable employers to share experiences as well as best practices concerning the employment of disabled people.
