In this document, as a background basic rules of strategic planning are presented, but we focus on presentation of methodology of setting strategic goals for development of competencies in organization. Companies with higher volume of business and workers have departments specialized in resources to perform an analysis of the necessary skills to increase the quality and adapt to market demands. This step becomes more complicated in SMEs and it is where our Model of Strategic Competence Management is not only useful but necessary.
By implementing quite simple Model of Strategic Competence Management - described in Guidelines - supported by user-friendly electronic tool, SME are able to define their own strategic plan in the context of human resources management.
Through analysis of problems of the company, it is possible to find out if the reason of them is laying in the lack of specific competencies. Making a good skill analysis with the use of the Compete! tool the managment of the company will be provided with reliable information about competence gaps that underlays (to some extent) business problems and will suggest the action that should be taken in order to bridge these gaps and reach a competitive advantage.
