Tourism forms an important part of the economy, particularly in some countries. According to the World Tourism Organization, the international tourism alone forms about 25 to 30 % of all world services and employs more than 100 million persons.
In comparative report, prepared within the Compete! project, the project Partners focused on analysis of problems and needs of tourism sector in the area of competencies management, with special focus to HORECA sector.
The report is a final product of research carried out in five partner’s countries: Poland, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Bulgaria. The analysis allowed to define essential problems, select the most important competencies for each evaluated job-position: bar-tender/waiter, room service, receptionist, cook, manager as well as to draw conclusions for the later stages of the project.
Description Product is a comparative roport published in is presented in six languages - Polish, English, Spanish, Italian, Czech, Bulgarian.
The comparative report may be useful for all the people interested in human resources issues and the tourism sector context of this area. It shows the bacground of the other products developed within the Compete! project.
Among the target groups the following can be mentioned:
- Small and medium Enterprises from tourism (especially HORECA)sector - hospitality businesses, restaurants, pubs etc.
- VET providers, specializing in trainings for tourism sector
- people from academic environment
- social partners, business environment organizations
Area of application
Comparative report may be a source of information about human resources in HoReCa sector.
The product was used by the project partnership in order to verify the need for the European Model of Strategic Competence Management as well as to define the most importand competencies in five job-positions selected for the project.
