Marketing Text The "Listening to young children project" was aimed on creating a new tool for vocational training in education sector. In the course of the project multilingual on-line e-course was developed which may be used by both education trainers and pre-school teachers. The content of the course is focused on the topic of communication with young children, based on innovative training method developed by EADAP (Greece). In the process of e-course development, professionals from different regions of Europe(Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Poland)and with different background were involved - thanks to this transnational exchange of practice was achieved.
The project was aimed at professionalizing the work with children, based on an innovative approach, the concept of "Listening to young children". The project seeked to create expertise transfer from Greece to create country specific frameworks for Poland, Cyprus and Bulgaria for conceptualizing "Listening to young children" in order to support professionals to address these new needs in a coherent manner. The crucial product of the project is multilingual on-line platform which enables developing training method on the topic of “Listening to young children” delivered via e-learning. There are two direct target groups of the project – trainers experienced in vocational training in educational sector and professionals working directly with children aged 2-6.
The project was developed by consortium consisting of 4 core partners:

•Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP) - Research and Innovation Centre in Information, Communication and Knowledge Technologies (Greece)
•Step by Step Program Foundation (Bulgaria)
•Society for the Development and Creative Occupation of Children (EADAP) (Greece)
And 2 associated partners:
•2nd EPAL Aigaleo (Vocational High School) (Greece)
•Lions Infant and Child Care Centre of Strovolos Industrial Estate (Cyprus)
Project have started on December 2010 and was implemented until December 2012.
Identifying and listening to children is more and more acknowledge as an important field of study and training, since these problems may cause severe socio-economical impacts on societies. As a result of this project, professionals working with or on behalf of children are given specialized competencies enabling them to identify these needs in time and to develop programs and policies that can be adequate response mechanisms.
The project also aimed to develop a network of intervention at national level, connecting through an online platform, professionals from different areas and regions and allowing the implementation of "Listening to young children".
The trans-national nature of the project was ensured by the transfer of expertise from Greece, but also by the exchange of good practices and results among the professionals implementing the project.
Listening to young children project was pursuing:
- transfer and adaptation of innovative learning solutions for vocational training in the educational sector
- design and testing of a European course for teachers and trainers developing key competence in the field as well as providing quality in the services on local, national and global level.
Tangible outcomes from this project:
- a multilingual on-line Course delivered by e-learning, training toolkits suitable for further integrations, reuse and commercialization after this first delivery.
- diffusion of innovative on-line and in house solutions for European vocational training.
Intangible outcomes from this project:
- contribution to improvement of quality and attractiveness in the VET-systems.
- contribution to increased interest for key competence to guarantee quality of education system as well as cooperation between education and vocational training institutions, entrepreneurs and relevant public administrations.

The core project product is on-line course aimed to professionals working with children aged 2-6. The course is being developed in close cooperation of training centre in Greece, trainers from 4 particpating countries (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece and Poland) and teachers. The course is based on Listening to young children concept developed by EADAP (Greece).
The methodological and didactic approaches where the project and its products is based on:
•general principles of two-way communication
•favourable conditions for and obstacles to listening
•speech and artistic expression
• art forms and non-verbal expression of emotions and ideas
•the Mosaic approach
•photography as a tool to boost children’s expression
•presentation and evaluation of educational programmes as a means to foster children’s expression
•the role of the adult in active communication
Upon completion of the training project, participants will be in a position to:
•familiarise themselves with listening techniques and tools
•apprehend the connection between listening and active participation of children in the educational process
•determine the role of the educator in the listening process
•get acquainted with pedagogical practices which favour children’s expression
• identify the importance of listening as part of everyday practice and establish the value of listening
•explore their own skills and knowledge and identify areas of development
•recognise opportunities for, and barriers to, embedding listening within the early years.
At the moment, process of commercialization of the main project product (e-course)is in progress. All the partners are going to use the e-course to offer proffesional training to teachers, trainers, psychologists etc. working with young children. The training will be delivered via trainig centres or directly by trainers involved in the project.
