There are a lot of middle-aged women who lost their job and who have got big problems to find a job. They are experienced, hard working and precise, they have a sense for details and are also skilled in organising matters. They live mainly in regions afflicted by restructuralisation and they are among the most disadvantaged groups of unemployed people. Yet these women could very well use their work experience, working habits and features for new work, especially in the tourist branch. They can bring to the tourist service very desired elements – a friendly, warm and more personal approach to customers, a lot of interesting information about the region they live in and a deep knowledge about the local particularities and peculiarities. Many of them do in fact have the potential to create a new SME, others again could be employed by new SMEs oriented towards the tourist branch.
These middle-aged women are being trained in some skills they already have, but they are developing them even further: communication, negotiation, presentation. They are also learning about the marketing and services. The above mentioned training, effectuated also via e-learning is the key element of the project and its portal and at the same time its contribution to the innovation of vocational training of adults are being tested and verified.
Description The idea of the project TourEast is the collaboration of partners from regions where the tourist industry is more developed with partners from regions where this branch is on its way towards becoming one of the most important sectors with a big market potential. Transfer and sharing of experience was basis of the development of e-learning content containing a Web based and CD-ROM courses and also printed books, the TourEast guide for middle-aged people, especially for women, who can be motivated and encouraged to start a new professional future in the tourist sector, either in founding an SME or in becoming an employee for the local tourist services. All the materials have been prepared in EN, NL, DE, SK and TR languages. The courses already motivated people to learn because they are informal learning with a hidden but strong pedagogical support. That is why people who lost psychological barriers of completing their skills and the feeling that they are already old, may find something really challanging for them. The efficiency of such kind of e-learning is enormous. For achieving effective valorisation of the project results, the e-learning content and logic behind it had been introduced to the industry in the countries of partners primarily. European organisations active in the VET and employment of women especially in tourist sector had also been encouraged to participate in the valorisation of the concept which definitely had a very positive contribution to the industry by means of increasing number of the qualified workers in outputs. Project results were made available in the project portal for organisations who may be interested in developing similar model in different fields compatible with virtual working environment while the progress and outcomes are promoted in media and other mass media, via surveys and accreditation, via promotions targeting e-employers.
