Marketing Text With much emphasis placed on European competition it is important that beneficiaries are exposed to the training methods of top European coaches with the aim of enhancing the acquisition and development of key sports skills among beneficiaries to optimise their chances of success in their own sports and in a potential career in the sports industry.
The transnational placement programme will enhance the sending partners vocational education programme by exposing trainees to European coaching methods and work practices. EU involvement allows for added value and the exchange of information and best practice. Coaching/mentoring staff and beneficiaries from the sending organisation will also be able to take the good practice methods back to the UK for implementation into their local training programmes. Greater skills acquisition among trainees will improve chances of success in the professional/semi-professional ranks, while enhanced academic uptake and European exposure will improve employability in various career pathways.
The specific aims are:
• Transnational exposure to EU training methods to allow increased skill acquisition
• Development of coaching techniques, skills and experience
• Application of theory acquired on their course of study e.g. fitness, coaching, nutrition
• To encourage lifelong participation in sport and to remain healthy individuals. Sport is an important tool in strengthening public health.
• Personal development e.g. self-esteem, self confidence, leadership
• Social development e.g. teamwork, management of conflict, respect for others
• Cultural and linguistic development e.g. social integration
There will be three separate projects to cater for individuals from soccer, volleyball and gaelic football. All beneficiaries will be undergoing an intensive period of training in order to improve their skills acquisition and allowing them to apply theory to practice. This will be delivered by accompanying adults who will be qualified established coaches and by coaches from local clubs and NGBs organised by receiving partners. This should allow enhanced skill acquisition which should be evident when they play competitive matches against local clubs.
Beneficiaries will be able to acquire generic coaching skills as they undergo their own training and are given opportunities to coach young people in the Luxol Sports Club.
Sport has an important part to play in fulfilling the objectives of the Lisbon strategy for growth and employment. The value of sport is recognised in the Commission’s White Paper on Sport (2007).
