Title Baltic Sea Regional Training in Auditing Child Care Institutions
Project Number 2010-1-SE1-LEO05-04791
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text National agencies and authorities are mandated by national legislation to inspect, supervise, assess and monitor how the child residential care meet the demands put on them by national legislation, international conventions and ditto agreements. Professionals doing the monitoring have up until now received little or no training in how to conduct such monitoring, how to enable the monitoring to become a dynamic part of the development of the institution. The project has transferred the innovative model for teaching the method of how to conduct a systemic and systematic auditing and monitoring of child residential care taking the children's own voices into consideration. The model and the material is developed in Norway and the training model and the training material that has been revised, updated and transferred to the partner countries has taken language differences and cultural differences into account.
Summary Training is a necessary prerequisite for countries to fulfil their obligations as stated in the Convention of the Rights of the Child, more precisely articles 9, 20 and 25. A training package and a model for delivering such training is useful in all countries in the region and in Europe.
