Project Number 2010-1-FR1-LEO05-14499
Project Type Transfer of Innovation
Marketing Text Even if today in most universities and architectural schools, we can easily find out modules dedicated to the Design for All and vocational trainings aimed primarily at architects, there is no trainings on the City for All. ARVHA in France and CAE in the UK have well effective tools and learning contents regarding this theme; Italy has a course on DFA, Greece and Romania don’t have any of these tools and wish to establish dedicated trainings to the City for All.
Summary The multilingual platform will directly concern 205.000 architects from five partner’s countries, as well as the European countries which can speak one of the fifth languages of the project. This would also cover the engineering services departments of the town and obviously millions of disabled people who will measure accessibility improvement of their own towns.
Since 2003 European Year of Disabled Persons, the inclusion of persons with disabilities in all aspects of civic life has become a priority for member states. The world of disability is broad and complex. It is indeed to take into account in architectural and urban projects all the kinds of a disabilities, motor, visual, auditory, emotional, mental and cognitive. Public space is the first key to the accessibility and independent living. Architects and planners are on the frontline. Their public or private customers are now high demand of knowledge in this area.
The partnership consists of a handful five members from five countries: France, Uk, Greece, Romania and Italy – a vocational training establishment, a foundation for ensuring the development of an accessible environment, an university and two architectural offices which are strongly involved to a national trade association and nine associated partners. The platform e-learning course "Architecture, Urbanism and Disability" set up in France by ARVHA, supplemented by the expertise of English Centre for Accessible Environment, is the support of innovation transfer presented here. This transfer takes place in 5 points:• Management of access rights, tutors and learners, navigation and teaching tools in five languages, English, French, Greek, Italian and Romanian.• Enhancement of the corpus of knowledge,• Integration of national regulations of the 5 partner countries,• Establishment of a multilingual tool for the control of knowledge,• Testing in real conditions, of the tests and finalized. The result of the project is a multilingual platform dedicated to the City for All, immediately usable by trainers English, Greek, Italian and Romanian. This platform is equipped with tool of evaluation of the knowledge for trainers and learners and a tool for updating and enriching content for partners.
