Marketing Text Innovations are a necessity, but also an opportunity for SMEs to prevail on the market. Different theories cope with the development of a product or service from its creation to its introduction to the market. In this script the picture of the innovation circle is used, which covers all areas necessary for the complex topic innovation management.
It is the goal of this script to on the one hand create awareness for the necessity of innovations and on the other hand present them as an opportunity for the future of SMEs. It should encourage the participating and trained companies to implement innovation supporting measures. The project goal is the increase of innovation skills of SMEs trained in innovation management.
Chapter 1 deals with the basics of innovation management from its definitions to its different forms. Innovations result from ideas, if they are implemented in new products, services and processes, which find real usage and thus penetrate the market. We distinguish between product innovation, process innovation, market innovation, structural innovation and cultural innovation. Some theories of product development will also be presented.
The whole process of innovation management will be explained based on the “innovation circle”. Chapter 2 deals with the innovation circle itself consisting of the sub processes input, project management and implementation. To put it another way the whole process from the idea to the implementation of new products or services is reproduced and discussed.
Chapter 3 deals in detail with the so called organizational factors like strategy, corporate culture, human resources, budget and cooperations. The characteristics of these organisational factors define which status innovations have in the company.
