Country UK-United Kingdom
The SEPE Award was designed to help those who may find accessing traditional routes to employability challenging, to build confidence and gain a meaningful qualification. The award was designed to help learners to gain and retain any job and then to advance in the workplace. It seeks to develop and assess key competancies required in the workplace: teamwork, communication, task and time management, problem solving and reflective learning.
This project has seen the award transferred to prisons in Austria, Holland, Italy, Portugal and Turkey.
Summary The Project used the arts to enable offenders to develop job specific skills by transferring a new award into new contexts. Developed in the UK through and Equal project PEETA develops and assessed offenders' soft skills through a process of goal setting, participation in arts projects, observation, feedback and reflection. The project aimed to trial the SEPE Award in five EU countries. It saw the development of communities of practise capable of making robust and consistent judgements on the achievements and learning outcomes of beneficiaries across the partnership countries.
Year 1 saw the training of artists and the delivery of the award in prisons in Holland and Italy resulting in the delivery of the final outcomes being observed by our partners in Austria, Portual and Turkey. We also trained artists from these three countries in the delivery of the award, which took place in Year 2.
There was a multi-lateral meeting in Turkey in May 2012 to review the Year 2 pilots. Finally our partners the Ministry of Justice in Holland hosted a major European conference in September 2012 to present the findings of the project and launch the award onto the European market.
