Hair.net möchte die Ausbildungsmöglichkeiten für angehende und bereits ausgebildete Friseure durch die Bereitstellung qualitativ hochwertiger Online-Lernmaterialien aufwerten. Es soll eine allgemeine Verbesserung der Qualität der Ausbildung erreicht werden, was zu einer hohen Motivation zur Beibehaltung des Berufes, Zufriedenheit am Arbeitsplatz und einer verbesserten Geschäftsleistung zur Folge hätte.
Die Initiatoren erhoffen sich zudem, dass sich durch dieses Projekt mehr EU-Bürger für den Ausbildungsberuf des Friseurs interessieren, da dieser Beruf von einem vereinfachten Zugang, verbunden mit einer Qualifikation, die größere Anerkennung und Glaubwürdigkeit gewinnt, profitieren wird.
The Hair.net project built on the success of the UK Hairdressing Training service by adapting and transferring it to 3 member states. The project provided online resources for hairdressing teachers and students in colleges and salons responding to needs for improvements in quality, access to, and accreditation of hairdressing VET in Eastern Europe. This project enhanced employability, young people’s engagement with learning, social equality, business sustainability, workforce mobility and skills shortages.
Hair.net has provided training opportunities for aspiring and existing hairdressers thus supporting employability and lifelong learning by making hairdressing training more widely accessible across the EU through open access online delivery. Hair.net’s objectives were to: transfer the existing web resources to other member states, scope their needs and adapt the materials according to their cultural differences and limitations associated with access to the Internet and then mapped against the EQF; they were delivered via a technically robust, web based and accessible hosting platform; and the project outputs were widely disseminated across partner countries and the EU.
This was a consortium of 5 partners, from the UK, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovakia who were chosen to give good East European coverage and support the aim of transfering training material content and method from more experienced areas to new member states. Mimas has expertise in learning and teaching service management in the academic sector and lead the consortium and the technical development, quality assurance and evaluation and project management work packages.
The project delivered: a website to disseminate findings, including promotional materials; suites of quality assured online hairdressing training resources mapped on to the EQF; a content development framework to ensure that resources were culturally specific and translated into partner languages; a programme of dissemination activities across Europe; reports on technical specification and needs analysis; a project evaluation including lessons learnt and sustainability options and further transfer opportunities.
After the first year of activity the project has delivered a quality assurance and evaluation framework, a needs analysis for each partner country, a framework for mapping resources to the EVQ and a technical framework for hosting the final materials. Year two delivered a full suite of hairdressing training materials in Bulgarian, Romanian and Slovakian. These were tested for technical stability and accessibility and for content by industry experts. Each partner country hosted and organised a dissemination launch event to create publicity for the newly created materials.
Hairdressing Training (www.hairdressing.ac.uk) hosted and managed by Mimas at The University of Manchester is an award winning suite of resources with video and photographic step by step guides combined with lessons and techniques, suiting a variety of learning styles with over 90% market penetration amongst eligible institutions.
This project has transferred this innovation to 3 Eastern European member states, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Romania.

The project has produced the following products:
Translated and adapted online resources including video and photographic step by step guides combined with lessons and techniques, suiting a variety of learning styles. These have been adapted for Romanian, Bulgarian and Slovakian users.
The resources will be mapped to the EQF.
