Marketing Text This project has improved the BRIC regions (Brazil, Russia, India and China) international trade training so that as many European SMEs as possible can access these emerging markets thereby “promoting competitiveness and the growth of an entrepreneurial spirit” as required by objective 5 of the Lifelong Learning Programme.
Summary The main objective of the BRIC International Trade Training project was to improve the training materials for those European SMEs who aim to trade with these regions. Targeting these emerging markets will allow SMEs to stay competitive and avoid making workers redundant in the current economic climate.
BRIC-ITT engaged with European SMEs to research barriers they face when attempting to trade with the BRIC countries. It developed new learning approaches for the delivery of the international trade skills training by working with institutions across Europe. This ensured the project has involved different stakeholders in making VET more responsive to the labour market. The results were used to build on the existing platform of the previous InTeLS project.
By using the flexible approach of the InTeLS platform, we have produced a state of the art e-learning package to enable SMEs to experiment with BRIC countries trading and thereby increase their skills and knowledge in this area. This package is available in English, Bulgarian, Spanish, Portuguese, Lithuanian and Romanian and it consists of a serious game using SME specific BRIC International Trade scenarios, on-line training materials, more than 50 "Meet the experts" video clips and a knowledge base of advice and guidance.
An assessment framework is provided so that SMEs and their training providers can assess their competence needs and the materials can be easily integrated into existing VET programmes.
