Marketing Text Education is a chance for better life. Higher qualifications reduce the risk of unemployment and points to a positive relationship between education and good management of changes in life. The level of education attained influences the chances of participation in lifelong learning.
Summary From researches and experiences we know that a lot of young people in Europe need to go back to education as adults. In EU-27 every sixth young person (18-24) leaves school with no more than lower secondary education and participates in no kind of education or training after that. That group risks to become social excluded. Project partners studied what was already written about school abandon and collected that knowledge in a survey report (SR) Conclusions were that there are a lot of good reasons to educate oneself for personal reasons; higher qualifications are positive related to better health, more employment opportunities, good living standard, increased income and more training opportunities as adults. But investment in human capital by education also contributes to economic growth, social cohesion and social inclusion. As the project aims to help teachers, principals and community leaders to know better how to support the personal development of early school leavers, partners interviewed 420 persons, who abandoned school too early. The analysis of the questionnaires was presented in practice guide and also in a report (RNAFR). These two research reports, SR and RNAFR, guided us when creating a personal development tool and a helpkit for the direct beneficiaries, and a practice guide and an intensive training course for indirect beneficiaries. The outcomes of the project are downloadable at project website www.btos.eu. The intensive training course for teachers takes place in Lodz in September 2010 and the second session takes place in Antwerp in April 2011. The course will focus on group dynamics, communication and learning styles, which is one of the key competences. It is possible to register to course at project website.
