Description The didactic methodology repeted the original one as follows - transferred topics: 1. the conception of the teacher training and the teaching models; 2. the development and production of the materials necessary for implementation of the programme in schools; 3. the training of teachers; 4. The scientific verification of the teaching method with small children in school; 5. the evaluation of the success of the model and the materials in terms of the their language acquisition results; 6. the diffusion through the education system at Italian and European levels.
Target group Pre-school teachers and trainers. Foreign language teachers.
Result The training of the pre-school and primary school teachers from Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey on three levels: giving teachers a theoretical and practical training and developing their awareness of their own teaching style. The theory is founded on ideas about human processes of language acquisition and bilingualism and on the analysis of the conditions that must exist in the school environment to promote learning.
Area of application The training model provides teachers with the tools to put what they’ve learnt into immediate action: strategies for language teaching and the educational materials. The strategies are new, from pretending not to understand the child's mother tongue to the use of a magic T-shirt to enter the fantastic world of Hocus and Lotus where adventures are lived out in the foreign language; from using characters with whom the children can easily identify, to using of stories "in chapters" with a narrative thread connecting one story to another and in which all the children impersonate with.
