The need analyses in Romania and Bulgaria were based on a similar research methodology and using a questionnaire and interviews addressed to a representative number of teachers, tutors and researchers from the partner institutions (Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in Bulgaria and SNSPA in Romania). The questionnaire’s related topic referred to the following issues: e-learning training paths, understanding of e-learning concept and other related terms, making use of e-learning – technologies, factors triggering e-learning, preferred modes of training and support, projections of future developments. In Romania in Bulgaria the interviews werewas focused on the following issues: reflection upon self-experience in teaching; perceived advantages / disadvantages of e-learning; activities / technologies used; factors encouraging greater use of e-learning; perceived strenghts and weaknesses of their own department in implementing elearning; previous training experience.
Both the survey and the interviews topic were highly relevant for the project objectives and succeeded to collect an important amount of information and data in order to map the situation of e-learning approaches, training offers and training needs in Romania and Bulgaria related to e-learning. The outcomes of the need analyses in Romania and Bulgaria clearly shown that the TOIL project is very opportune in both institutional contexts and there is a need for a more practical approach of training related to e-learning methodologies.
