Project Type Mobility - initial vocational training IVT

Marketing Text Main focus of this project was to improve openness and tolerance for different cultures and different ways of living and to explore "multi-ethnicity" in care and education of children aged 3 to 6.
The College for Nursery Education Tübingen sent 24 students to settings working with children aged 3 to 6 in Great Britain, France, Spain and Finland at the beginning of their second year of vocational training for Erzieher/in (Nursery nurse/Nursery teacher).
The students had a five week work placement with the following aims:
- Gaining insight into the educational system in a european country.
- Getting to know culture and way of living in a foreign country.
- Reflection on personal experience of feeling foreign.
- Exploring concepts and activities of intercultural education.
- Improvement of language skills.
The main focus was "intercultural education". During the placement all students had the possibility to integrate actively in the daily routine and to build up a good relationship to the children. They had the possibility to experience new and interesting ideas to deal with multi-ethnicity and to plan and carry out activities with children.
The students met in small groups with the responsible tutor of the College to reflect their experiences. The tutor visited every student in her/his setting.
Back at the College the students evaluated the placement and presented their experiences to other students and teachers at the College and also to specialists in day nurseries,
The students received the "Europass-Mobility" and will receive an additional certificate after having finished the training.
