Marketing Text This project has developed an online learning platform for vocational training with remote access to technical equipment for developing real practices in the frame of vocational training. This idea is having a significant impact in the educative process (teachers and students) of the European vocational training and in institutions for the training of workers and unemployed people due to its innovative nature, especially in the practical side of the learning.
In this project, a new strategy for the technological and professional training is presented. This strategy is based on the use, in a broad and collaborative way, of a technological platform for the remote theoretical/practical learning via the Internet of systems of telephony, telematics and microprocessors.
The main results are:
-Development of an e-learning platform as support for the project.
-Design and development of educative units / e-learning lessons as pattern for the systems of telephony, telematics and microprocessors.
-Design and development of three model systems for the study and remote analysis of telephony, telematics and microprocessors.
-Creation of a database of knowledge for the mentioned systems.
-Development of an audiovisual communication system to watch the results and to communicate with the professor.
The consortium has been organised with a set of educative institutions, vocational training schools and companies, with a special interest in the development of remote and practical e-learning.
As a general result a remote workshop has been built. This remote workshop allows an access via the Internet for the training in systems of telephony, telematics and microprocessors. Nevertheless, the results of this project are multidisciplinary and have been developed in a way that they provides the possibility to be exported to any other educative field and can be the base of any training matter like mechanics (remote management of machine tools), robotics (remote control of robots) , flexible manufacturing cells, control / verification of machines and processes in companies, medicine (diagnosis and visualization), etc.
The described system is having a great impact in the educative process (teachers) and learning (students) of vocational training, in institutions for the training of unemployed people and in general in all the vocational training in Europe, due to its innovative nature, especially in the practical side of the learning.
This project presents a new strategy for the technological training. This project is based on the design and implementation of specific equipment of practical training, taken from industrial systems, which can be accessible via the Internet.
The main important results are: to facilitate the use of this equipment to the persons (teachers, students, workers, professionals, etc.) in a flexible and easy way, without timetable restrictions, with real, complex and expensive industrial systems, where it is possible to interact in a real and non-simulated way. This idea leads to the concept of “Remote Workshops via the Internet”..
This fact permits, on one hand, to increase the autonomy degree in the training of a student and, on the other hand, allows the teachers to use new educative methodologies. The teacher can use on a daily basis and in an intensive way this type of equipment by means of integrating them into the theoretical classes as a real system which is easy to monitor via a computer or a video projection system, and which let a complete interactivity. Moreover, its open structure, flexibility and modularity allows the interrelation with work groups belonging to other educative institutions, which have similar equipment, to open other educative methodologies thanks to the collaborative work based on the use of delocalized industrial systems.
The final product is composed by three systems: Telephony system, telematics system and system for the developing of microprocessors.
The added value provided by this project can be summarized in the following paragraphs:
1-Team work and collaboration: a good learning is based on a cooperative and social effort and is not competitive and isolated. In order to reach this objective it is necessary to promote the use of forums in the remote workshops.
2-Active learning: the students should take part in what they learn. Only 20% of what is heard is remembered, but 90% of what is told and done.
3-Evaluation and self-evaluation: it is necessary that the students have access to appropriate tools that inform them at any moment about their performance and their level of knowledge. The remote practical training is the best way to evaluate those subjects.
4-Time on task: the students manage their training time in the way they want. The remote workshops and the websites allow this objective to be achieved in a very appropriate way.
5-Respect to the diversity of the students: this objective is reached by means of the remote workshops, because it allows the students to develop a collaborative work and learning, self-evaluation, adaptation of the course contents to the specificity of the students, monitored remote practical tasks, simulations, etc.

The so called technologies used in educational environments have experienced sensible changes that have led us to a continuous evolution in the use of our pedagogic tools: “the pedagogic materials”.
In the field of electronics, communications, even mechanics, and a lot of other disciplines, as long as the matters acquire technological nature and they became specialized, the traditional lecture has to be adapted to a higher degree of elaboration, in accordance with the ever increasing complexity of the schemas, circuits, systems, etc. For this reason it is necessary to take into account the development and application of educative methodologies based on technological resources.
In fact, not a long time ago, all the educative resources a blackboard in most of the situations. The new technologies were used as long they were available. In this way, the evolution of the teaching techniques have experienced a variation from the drawing on the blackboard to the exposition based on projected slides, black and white and low quality materials in most of the cases, which didn’t allow interrelation and dynamism. Thanks to the birth of the computers, the software and the printing techniques, the use of software to make presentations with slides has experienced great success. As long as the different software versions have been developed and the price of the projection system has been decreased, the quality of the slides and their contents has been improved. Now it is common to include in the slides pictures, graphics colours, animations and so on.
Any of the tools of general purpose or the specific ones, based on commercial software plus educative applications, don’t provide the student with a direct, dynamic and interrelated vision of the concepts of automation and, less than that, of the technologies associated to the control of systems and their relation with the theoretical concepts.
The final product of this project has been aimed to alleviate the limitations of the existing technologies focused to the online education with real practices in vocational training.
