Marketing Text EXPERTS möchte eine dauerhafte Trainingsumgebung für Experten in der Erziehung von Kleinkindern einrichten. Die Herangehensweise des Projekts basiert auf der Methode des Storytelling. Erzieher in Kindergärten und Tagesmütter werden Geschichten über ihre Erfahrungen aus ihrer Kindheit und wie sie erzogen wurden einerseits, und Geschichten aus ihrem beruflichen Alltag mit den Kindern andererseits zu erzählen. Indem sie ihre Geschichten und Erfahrungen niederschreiben, werden ihnen Muster und Schwierigkeiten bei ihrer Arbeit bewusster. Auch die Zusammenhänge dieser Probleme mit Erlebnissen der eigenen Kindheit werden dadurch deutlich. Des Weiteren können diese Geschichten als Basis für Austausch und Diskussion zu Erziehungsfragen mit anderen ErzieherInnen dienen. Eine Diskussionsplattform wird in einem Forum zur Verfügung gestellt und durch Experten begleitet.
Society is going through profound changes, and the process of transformation is bringing new challenges for the educational sector: migration and integration, working schedule flexibility and mobility, increasing number of children with adjustment disorders and undesirable development are some of the most challenging questions for education professionals.
At the same time research has proven impressively that early childhood education is the most important time to initiate a healthy development and prevent effectively development problems.
In this context, the role of kindergarten teachers and day mothers is a most crucial one, as they have to master the ever harder task of raising healthy, socially competent and capable young people.
In this sense, it is unacceptable that these professionals belong to the ones with the lowest opportunities for professional development and continuous education and training. Moreover the ever-growing complexity of today’s society leads to more insecurity about the right educational behaviour. Furthermore the link to experienced education and present demands is not always apparent.
EXPERTS wants to develop a continuous training environment for early childhood education professionals. The approach of the proposed project is based on a storytelling methodology. Kindergarten teachers and day mothers are invited to tell stories about their experiences as a child, how they were brought up on the one hand as well as stories from their own professional routine on the other hand. Writing down their stories and experiences will make them explicitly and implicitly aware of patterns and difficulties, which stay in correlation with the own childhoods experiences. Furthermore these stories can serve as a basis for exchange and discussion on educational issues with other kindergarten teachers and what they can learn from their peers’ experiences. Discussion facilities will be offered within a forum supervised by experts.
Description The organisation of the work takes the needs of the target group into account from the very beginning. The overall objective of the project is to develop a continuous training environment for early childhood education professionals, and all the tools that are going to be developed to this aim will be built on a scientific user needs analysis. For that reason, scientific work taking stock of present theories and practices will be carried out within WP2, and it will be the starting point for the technical development planned within the framework of WP3 and for the methodology of the service that is planned to be operational at month 12 (WP5). Technical development is planned so as to meet design and development recommendations coming both from theories and practices, and from the users who will pilot the service (WP4). A broad dissemination action will be undertaken at all levels from the beginning, in order to sensitize policy makers, education and training communities, but also to inform associations of professionals and individuals about this learning opportunity and to encourage their joining. The exploitation of results will then start as early as year 2 of the project, given the presence of OPEKO and WEACE who represent this task and who have strong networking capabilities with other associations and professionals in Europe. By means of appropriate milestones and indicators, evaluation and quality-related activities (WP7) will ensure an effective monitoring and corrective actions (if needed) to ensure the achievement of results in time and on budget.

Product information Technical development and adaptation of all web-based services necessary for the project. These include: development of the weblog area adapted to the needs of the project and the special target group; development of a template for the online guide; development of a user-friendly mechanism to create links between articles and a possibility to categorise stories in a reasonable way. A special focus will be put on the choice and technical adaptation of adequate weblog-software regarding project’s needs and on usability design of the web-area for the target group of kindergarten teachers. Additionally a project website including information for the public about the project plus an internal working area with file sharing and communication facilities will be developed.
