Knowledge, skills and abilities;
The changing of attitude
Summary Training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities have changed dramatically in recent years. These changes reflect a strong, growing movement towards promoting the inclusion of disabled persons in all sectors of society. In the field of employment, there is much greater emphasis than before on the promotion of opportunities in competitive employment, with supports where required, and a smaller emphasis on providing work opportunities in special centres. The project will increase the opportunity to involve people with disabilities in the labour market. Each partner will gain the knowledge of the situation with employment of disabled people in partner countries, and mechanism of stimulation of entrepreneurs to employ them. The partners will examine the situation on the national and international levels, compare and share knowledge and experience.
Description A handbook for Employers “Increasing Employability of Disabled People” will be envisaged for employers, heads of institutions and for students of professional study programs as potential employers, as well as for all interested persons. The aim of the handbook is to give a brief insight into the important changes in the integration of people with disabilities in labour market and employment, by paying attention to abilities rather than to disabilities of such employees.

The results will be used as basis for our proposal. The project results provide integrated resources for all the professional stakeholders (students, support workers and employers). Added value is the potential impact on parents and carers of people with disabilities: (a) in the information available from the results, and (b) as a learning resource for themselves to re-enter employment in a professional caring or supporting role.
The project outcomes and experiences were transferred to other EU and other countries’ educational and other relevant institutions.
