As nowadays many Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) need to increase the production quality and efficiency, they need to integrate the existing facilities (from many vendors) to new, innovative Automation and Robotics (A&R) solutions. To do it, they need a training on how to select, integrate and operate the A&R systems in order to achieve the highest efficiency and the shortest ROI (Return On Investment) period.
The main problem in enterprises to successfully apply automation is the lack of qualified personnel (from less qualified worker to manager level), and it is especially seen in SMEs.
The main aim of the project was to create a set of training modules in scope of automation and industrial robotics to educate technical teachers in vocational schools and employees of production SMEs about possible utilization of automated and robotized installations in industry, and to develop vocational skills considering the labour market needs.
VITRALAB training system consists of two parts. The first part consists of e-learning courses for three different target groups and the second part is a virtual laboratory created specifically for the needs of target groups.
The project provides a cost-effective, comprehensive training system for SMEs and teachers in automation and robotics combining theoretical e-learning courses and virtual laboratory.
The training system is based on the existing training content of project partners and is extended by combining several training techniques into an innovative system supporting vocational education for SME with their special needs and requirements fulfilled.

Product information Within the project there was a training system created which consists of e-learning course for the managers, technical staff as well as for professional trainers and consultants. The system is done in the Moodle environment as well as the virtual laboratory, which was specially designed and created for the needs of the project VITRALAB.
