The Delphi study consists of two surveys. The aim of the first survey is to identify how a transnational catalogue of ‘Core Competences of Adult Learning Facilitators in Europe' should look alike and the aim of the second survey was to validate this catalogue.
The questionnaire for the second wave of the Delphi study has been developed on the basis of the “Concept catalogue of core competences for Learning Facilitators in ACE” which has been the result of the first wave of the survey. This second questionnaire has been used in order to validate this result of the first wave. The product provides reference material for further development and research activities f. ex. the specification of the identified core competences in for different fields of Adult and Continuing Education like in-house training or online education.
The developed product is the questionnaire of the second survey of the Delphi study. The questionnaire was redesigned on the basis of the outcomes of the first waves and with a view to enabling consensus among the experts on a set of core competencies in the end. For this purpose, the questionnaire in the second wave includes all items that have proven to be significant for the experts during the first wave. At the same time, the items have been grouped in a different way from the first wave, according to what the analysis of the first wave data (a factor analysis has been applied) suggested. The questionnaire is structured into the following competence domains:
- personal qualities
- interpersonal behavior and communication with learners
- cooperation with the external environment
- planning and management
- access and progression learners
- subject-related, specialist domain
- monitoring and assessment of learning processes
- didactical-methodological domain
- personal and professional development and reflection
The questionnaire is used to validate the interim result – the concept catalogue of core competences for Learning Facilitators in ACE.
Target group Learning Facilitators in Adult and Continuing Education (ACE), ACE experts. In the first place the product is aimed at those ACE Learning Facilitators and experts who take part in the Delphi research of the project. In the second place it is addressed at a wider specialist audience who takes an interest in the definition of professional core competences of ACE staff.
