Title Standards europeen de competence logistique
Project Number LLP-LdV-TOI-2009-DE-147 226
Summary The project EUCOLOG is a response to concrete qualification requirements in the immediate logistics sector as well as in logistical areas of other sectors (logistics as a key technology). A new strategy, combining training and qualification with continuous improvement, delivers rapid training results through in-company education measures that are derived directly from the working process. The SOLOS approach – backed by possibilities of certification – can respond to competence shortfalls which normally become apparent in the working process whilst optimising processes at the same time. It thus connects two important competitive factors for enterprises: personnel development and process improvement. SOLOS also offers time and cost efficiency through integrating the learning model into the organisation’s management culture – through company-internal learning guides, situated at middle management level. Learning takes place whilst business and work processes continue to run and are being improved at the same time.
Description EUCOLOG woked on the transfer and broad implementation of an already piloted work process-oriented further training concept for selected job profiles in logistics. The SOLOS model was developed by IG Metall, logistics enterprises and scientists. It is a solution for lifelong learning on the shop floor in all fields of logistics. In order to achieve acceptance on the European training and education market, it was necessary to make specific adaptations to the previously existing training model. For example, learning outcome formulation for the EQF-compatible competence profiles. This should facilitate the national and cross-border accreditation of certificates. The usability of learning outcomes on the internal and external labour market is also of importance. In this context, EUCOLOG also developed participatory competence measuring methods fit for everyday use by practitioners; as well as a form of documentation for proof of competencies that are in accordance with the standards of the Europass and hence support its dissemination in the logistics sector. These activities have been complemented on the European level in terms of a contribution to the achievement of a common European logistics skills strategy, through the long-term goal of establishing a European Logistics Skills Forum and a joint logistics project and initiative cluster.

Description de nouveaux métiers
The fundamental product of this project is the SOLOS learning model. This model was enhanced and improved through the development of competence measuring methods, a means of certification (in the form of a competence pass) and improved surrounding conditions.
The following products were developed
• Improved SOLOS learning model
• Measuring method for competence learning in logistical work processes
• Europass logistics – a certification instrument for the documentation of competencies acquired
• Surrounding conditions: revised training for learning guides, sustainable model for the certification of competencies acquired within the SOLOS model, platform for coordinated European efforts in the area of logistics projects and initiatives through a project cluster and efforts towards the establishment of a European sector dialogue logistics
