Marketing Text The COMET tool was a software supporting the process of measuring and developing competences of employees, according to the needs of the company.
The process of competence-measurement started with defining and description of competences of elderly employees in SME. Competences werde defined and in different level brought in relation. A group of competences in different level war arranged for so called competence-profiles. They referred to single employees, to groups of employees and to certain tasks.
Superiors informed their staff about the project and gave them all information to get informed about the competence-measurement, the competences and the handling of the tool.
Additionally superiors assessed their staff and the employees assessed themselves.
There was a seminar to train the superiors for the discussion with their staff.
The last part was a discussion between superior and staff to compare and the results and plan further measures to develop competences.
The most important target-group were:
- Management and human resource development in SME
- Superiors in companies,
- Trainer and other people responsiible in SME for VET,
- elderly employees.
The tool was usefull in companies to assess the really existing competences of elderly employees and develop them in following measures.
Very highly appreciated was the special feature of the tool to allow a decision between the description of competences in different level or in yes-/ no question.
Some of the cooperating companies used the tool after expiring of the project.
Area of application
The tool has a double range of application:
It could be used in companies for competence-measurement with elderly employees. In one way it was possible to assess the competences of long-time contracted employees. In another way it was used to gauge the competences of newly hired elderly employees with the aim to employ them in the most effective way.
The tool was used by people responsible for human development and by trainer to introduce the topic of competences measurement into the company.
