NEO-TRAN is an Innovation Transfer Project whose aim is to transfer and adapt the TRANEE - Transport in e-Europe Pilot Project Leonardo da Vinci Project UK/03/B/F/PP/162049) to the needs of a wider target group, whereby contributing to its implementation and promotion.
More specifically, NEO-TRAN offers an interactive training package based on e-learning methodology supported by mobile-learning. The package focuses on key aspects of competitiveness in the global economy in the EU with regard to SMEs that operate in the goods transport and logistics industry.
The NEO TRAN Project is directly targeted towards senior SME managers who work in the goods transport and logistics industry and who would like to strategically analyse the role that ICT play in their businesses and to improve their competitiveness, by using the knowledge that is present within their company and amongst their workers.
The final aim for the NEO-TRAN Project focuses on raising awareness amongst SMEs from the goods transport and logistics industry, regarding the need to include innovative elements in their corporate structures (ICT, knowledge management, organisational innovation, etc...) and to provide them with the specific tools required for them to face the new economy, by helping them to become more competitive.
The specific objective of the NEO-TRAN Project is to provide senior SME managers in the goods transport and logistics industry with a strategic framework for analysing the actual performance of their companies in a new economy based on knowledge. It also addresses ways of improving the benefits of integrating and applying information and communication technologies.
The SMEs in the goods transport and logistics industries are at a disadvantage in the knowledge age. In this regard, the training package for the NEOTRAN project will provide them with the assistance needed to understand how to adapt to the new economy and to adopt and integrate new technologies into their daily activities. They will therefore be able to identify and take advantage of new opportunities that the enlarged EU offers, whereby improving their competitiveness.
More specifically, the training package for the NEO-TRAN Project is going to provide senior SME managers in this industry with a series of self-diagnosis tools that will allow them to evaluate both the internal and external factors involved in corporate innovation in the goods transport and logistics industries.
The training package will therefore take specific aspects into account such as the following: el impact of an economy based on knowledge in the transport industry; corporate cooperation; organisational development; introduction and usage of ICT; and entering into Eastern European countries.
In this way, the NEO-TRAN Project aims to provide specific solutions with respect to the priorities set forth by the Directorate General for Energy and Transport, by promoting innovation within the corporate structure as well as improving security, efficiency and the cost-effectiveness ratio for SMEs in the goods transport and logistics industry.
The NEO-TRAN Project is directly targeted towards senior SME managers who work in the goods transport and logistics industry and who would like to strategically analyse the role that ICT play in their businesses, and to improve their competitiveness by using the knowledge that is present within their company and amongst their workers.
NEO-TRAN may also be useful to other target groups, such as:
* Experts in e-learning and m-learning training and vocational training and development centres.
* SME managers from other industries that could benefit from the training tool, with slight adjustments depending on the industry and activity in question.
* Interest groups such as business associations, workers unions, workers associations, etc... who could obtain specific benefits from the results of the project.
