Marketing Text Non formal and informal learning are important aspects of lifelong learning but they are not recognized in the classical education systems. The development of competences in non formal and informal contexts is the part of education that often remains invisible. The objective of Valid-Info is then to highlight non formal and informal learning outcomes, and more particularly in the professions dealing with vocational/job counselling for people with disabilities and dealing with intercultural mediation.
Summary The Valid-Info project aims at promoting the recognition of non formal and informal education in the programs of continuing education for adults, more especially in the professional profiles targeted by the project. In order to achieve this goal, the methodology used in the Valid-Info project was to transfer a system of recognition of competences that has been developed in Germany, the ProfilPASS system. The project Valid-Info has created tools for self-evaluation of competences that beneficiaries could utilize in order to identify and promote their competences. The project has also led to the creation of a European guide presenting a methology to use the tools, the project'context and some recommendations for stakeholders, especially for the development of validation systems of the competences identified.
The professions of job/vocational counsellor for people with disability and of intercultural mediators/streetworker most often put into practice competences that are rarely developed within formal education systems. On the contrary, they are mainly developed in other contexts as such work life, family life or volunteering, which are also called non formal and informal contexts. The aim of Valid-Info is then to promote those "silent competences" by creating tools for the identification, self-evaluation and valorization of competences. Thus, the final users (the workers) are able to promote their experience and assert to have some competences. Thanks to this tool the users can attend training courses better adapted to their needs and promote their competences on the labor market. Valid-Info also aims at developing the recognition and promotion of those professions. Valid-Info could be transferred in other Member States but also in other sectors. Moreover, it has favored a common research on the identification of competences and on the methodologies of validation of competences.
First the project was based on a comparison of the systems of recognition and validation of competences implemented in the partners’ countries and in other countries that have relevant systems. This step enabled to draw a balance on the existing systems. Then the research focused on the targeted professional profiles. In order to analyze the competences required by the professions and identify in which context they are developed, interviews took place with workers and coordinators. The results were then analyzed and a map of competences was drafed for each professional profile. Based on some aspects of the ProfilPASS methodology, two tools of self-evaluation of competences were created, one per professional profiles. Those tools were then tested with workers. The tools have to be used with the assistance of a counsellor. In parallel to this step, a guide to the methodological pathway for the application of the tools was drafted. This methodology was integrated in the European guide which presents as well the project's context and recommendations for stakeholders.

Product information The final products of Valid-Info are two tools of self-evaluation of competences, allowing the users to identify and prepare a possible validation of competences, and a European guide containing a methodology for the utilization of the tools. One tool is adapted to the professional sector of job and vocational counselling for people with disability and the other is adapted for the professional profile of intercultural mediator/streetworker dealing with intercultural mediation.
